Surface Mount Technology Manufacturing

OVERVIEW:
Acquire a comprehensive, in-depth technical base in SMT manufacturing, including a detailed look at key process parameters. Upon completion of the course, students wil lbe capable of successfully planning, setting up and operating a complete SMT assemble line, considering aspects from initial design considerations through final assembly and inspection.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Persons responsible for establishing an assembly operation: technicians, operators, experienced production personnel and quality control specialists.

Benefits:

  • Obtain a stronger knowledge of the overall SMT manufacturing process in order to facilitate understanding of the interactions and influences of each process step.
  • Students will have the opportunity to change process parameters at different steps within the manufacturing process in order to observe the effects the changes have on the final product.
  • Hands-on exposure to state-of-the-market production equipment
  • Learn the impact of environmental issues and trends on selection of process

Course Content:

  • SMT processes and history
  • SMT components, board types, coarse and fine-pitch
  • Solderability testing
  • Solder paste characteristics
  • Solder paste dispensing and process control techniques
  • Adhesive dispensing
  • SMT component placement
  • Solder reflow theory: infrared, vapor phase, laser and wave soldering

Duration: 5 days
